Vatikan'dan, geçirdiği bronşit nedeniyle iki haftadır Roma'daki Gemelli Hastanesi'nde yatan ve çift taraflı zatürre teşhisi konulan 88 yaşındaki Papa'nın sağlık durumuyla ilgili yapılan açıklamada, "Papa'nın sağlık durumu bugün de iyiye gitmeyi sürdürmekte. Bugün yüksek akımlı oksijen tedavisi ile maske kullanımı dönüşümlü uygulandı. Klinik tablonun karmaşıklığı göz önüne alındığında, hastalığın seyrine ilişkin kesin değerlendirme yapabilmek için birkaç gün daha istikrarlı durumun sürmesi gerekmektedir" denildi.
